Child Care Benefit
In order to claim a childcare benefit your child must be registered at the program he/she attends.
You can apply through the Family Assistance Office by calling 13 61 50 between 8am - 8pm.
The Child Care Rebate
On 1 July 2009, the Child Care Tax Rebate was re-named the Child Care Rebate. The name change is in recognition that the rebate is no longer a tax offset under taxation legislation but is paid to families under the Family Assistance Law by the Family Assistance Office. There is no change to your eligibility or entitlements.
The Child Care Rebate helps working families with the cost of child care. The Child Care Rebate covers 50 per cent of out-of-pocket child care expenses for approved child care, with a rebate of up to $7,778 (indexed) per child per year, for eligible families.
